AFAS. Armed Forces Arts Society Exhibition, Mall Galleries
Robert receiving the Sculpture prize from Andrew Festing President of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters
This week the servicemen and women of Great Britain serving and retired have an exhibition of paintings and sculpture at the Mall Galleries in London near Admiralty Arch. I recommend a visit. See here for some more pictures taken at the SSAFA reception. Flying Spaniel won the Sculpture prize.

I'm glad Flying Spaniel won the sculpture prize, Robert. It deserved to win. It is a fine figure. Congratulations!
Thanks 100swallows, good moral boost!
As you know I had a coulple of days in London and took some photos of thinks which I will post for you soon.
Very interesting article in the Times yesterday about eyesight problems which Monet and Turner had; you might find it interesting too. I'll link it to the site if I can.
We have a missing hen in the garden. She decided not to go to bed tonight. Can't find her anywhere; this is a big problem as the foxes and badgers are fond of hens and have lots of young to feed! Our ancient dog is deaf now so not a lot of use in protection duties! So we will have to rely on 'she who must be obeyed' who's hearing is ultra-sonic; I'll have to be quick and out of bed to save the night!!
Congratulations!
From what I can tell from its website-- the AFAS holds to pretty high standards (and seems to be doggedly traditional)
Sorry about the hen --but maybe the installation of multiple copies of flying spaniel around the yard will keep the predators at bay.
My sister recommends the end results of a dog's dinner left behind the chicken coop, this deters badgers in particular!
She turned up the next day early begging for food so al is well that ends well - this time!!!
Rather traditional middle England not an area you can change quickly Chris!
wow! congrats on your win! that is awesome
Thanks Susangelique
